I love diners. A lot. In 2020 I set a goal of visiting 50 new-to-me diners. I’m keeping track of my stops on Instagram at @donnadoesdiners (and #donnadoesdiners), as well as here, on my website, at this page.
You can read more about the project on the Diners page, but I wanted to also write a brief blog post to announce that I’m doing this!
I want your suggestions!
Do you have a favorite diner in the U.S. I should try? I’ll regularly try to hit diners within a two-hour radius of Lancaster, PA. But I also plan to find diners when I am traveling for work or pleasure.
Some cities I’m visiting in 2020:
- A road trip to San Antonio, TX – so lots of possibilities along that route!
- Austin, TX
- Pittsburgh, PA (driving, so lots of rural PA in between)
- Denver, CO
- Little Rock, AR
- New Orleans, LA
Unrelated to and independent of this project (but kind of very related to this project): I run a small press and we also have a diner-themed essay collection out. It’s called Dine: An Anthology, and you can learn about it here. If you like essays and diners, consider grabbing a copy!
