As I continue to catch up posting my most recent published stories on my blog, I’m posting today about the eBiz Insider stories I’ve written the past few months. eBiz Insider is a bi-monthly eCommerce magazine published by Solid Cactus. Around since 2007, the magazine just went digital this year. It’s still laid out in magazine format, meaning it still looks just as pretty as the usual glossy magazine. We use a program called Issu, which allows readers to page through just as they would a print publication.
Here’s a recap of my contributions:
eBiz Insider March/April 2010
In our most recent issue, I wrote the cover story, an article about identity theft and how eCommerce store owners can protect themselves. We so often hear about how consumers can protect themselves, but for this story, I interviewed one online store owner who was a victim of fraudulent purchases. I also take a look at steps to spot and prevent fraudulent orders from an online store.
I also wrote a story about coupon usage, Sharpen Your Scissor Sense (I love alteration!). According to several studies released this year, coupon usage is at an all-time high in print and online coupons. This is big for online stores because consumers report they want to have a coupon or promotional code before making a purchase. In this article, I take a look at some of these stats as well as how online store owners can promote coupons to their new and repeat customers.
eBiz Insider January/February 2010
This issue (scroll down a bit to see this issue if you click the link), I contributed a story about how to turn first-time holiday shoppers into repeat customers.
The busy Christmas shopping season is a great way to attract new customers, but what about after the gifts are open? Here, I take a look at how online store owners can keep those shoppers coming back. What a great opportunity to find some new loyal customers for your online store!
So, I think that catches us up to the present. eBiz is probably one of my favorite parts about my role at Solid Cactus. I dearly, dearly miss the print version because, personally, I subscribe to over a dozen print magazine (even other eCommerce magazines) and love reading them at my kitchen table over dinner, or while relaxing on the couch. As much as I love technology, I still enjoy the comfort of curling up with a publication. After all, I work on a computer all day. When I want to read for leisure, I want to get away from the screen! But, it is what it is. : )
